Outreach and Missions
Local
Although we may be a small church, Epiphany's congregation is
actively engaged in numerous ministries in our own hometown.
Many of us supported the efforts of our youth in their long-term assistance at the local Cerebral Palsy Center. Our young people visited the center frequently, helping with minor maintenance, small improvement projects, and visiting with the center's clients. This project was funded by donations from Epiphany's members and by fund-raising projects of the Youth Group.
Near Christmas of each year, Epiphany's members and friends are blessed with the opportunity to participate in the "Jesus Cares" program. Parishioners purchase gifts for individual recipients and furnish food items for holiday meals.
The outreach of Epiphany's members takes many incidental forms as well, including helping needy families with household goods, utility bills, food supplies, and school needs. Contact a member of Epiphany's Outreach Committee, including Fr. Pete and Sherl Picchioni, for more information.
Part of our outreach involves sharing our parish hall with two very worthwhile 12 step recovery groups. AA (Alcohol Anonymous) meets Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. GA (Gamblers Anonymous) meets Friday 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Non-Local
Together with representatives from other churches in the Diocese of Western Louisiana, some of Epiphany's members participate in annual mission trips to Honduras and the Dominican Republic. During these missions, our church representatives bring the Word of God to the un-churched, enrich the worship of local Christians, offer medical and dental services, conduct vision exams and distribute eyeglasses, complete construction projects, and render assistance in other countless ways. The trips are funded through a combination of donations by the trip participants themselves, private donations, and fund-raising projects.
