Groups and Activities
Choir
The Epiphany Choir sings at the 10:00 Sunday Service and at most special Feast and combination services, Led by Jan Smith. The group is comprised of those for whom "making a joyful noise before the Lord" is indeed a joy.
Although the choir's contribution to our musical and liturgical life brings grace to us all, they do not require their members to audition or to be specially-skilled. Anyone who can carry a tune, melody or harmony, is welcomed to join the singers in the choir loft above the Narthex for any Sunday 10:00 am service.
The choir does not hold regular rehearsals, but schedules them as needed.
St. Agnes Altar Guild
The members of the Altar Guild set up the altar for services, launder the linen, and polish the brass and silver used in the church. At the major feasts of Christmas and Easter, the Guild collects donations for flowers to be given in thanksgiving or in memory of loved ones. A list is published in the service bulletin on those occasions. Additionally, the Guild receives donations to purchase new service linens and vestments. The Guild is eager to welcome new members. All women of Epiphany are considered to be members of the ECW. The group meets on the first Sunday of the months of January, March, May, July, September; and November, at 2:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Current officers are Cindy Bollich, President; Sandra Vanderlick, Vice-President; Jetta Molter, Secretary; and Sharlotte Finley, Treasurer.
The ECW's activities are centered around service to the church and fellowship with one another. One of their major fund-raisers, the Chicken Salad Sandwich Sale, is a tradition of long-standing, held on the first Thursday of November for more than seventy-five years. Every member of the Church, young or old, male or female, skilled or not, is heartily welcomed to assist in this fun and pleasant undertaking.
Twice a year, the ECW sponsors a Card Party and luncheon to raise funds for the church’s operating account. The event is usually held on a Wednesday, specific dates and times will be announced.
With the funds it has raised, the ECW completed such projects as refurbishing the Parish Hall, replacing its floor, purchasing new carpet for the church, landscaping and equipping the children’s play-yard.
Garden
Epiphany's lovely garden, located between the church and the Parish Hall, is a gift of the love and labor of Jetta Molter. She welcomes all contributors to the effort, particularly those who will pull a few weeds! Contact Jetta Molter for this project, for more information.
Memorials
Sherl Picchioni coordinates the acceptance and care of memorial contributions made to Epiphany. Donations are made to our church in memory of the departed, who may or may not have been members of Epiphany.
The Memorial Fund has been directed toward the construction of stained-glass windows, new church doors, and other permanent and semi-permanent fixtures of the building and grounds. Gifts may also be designated for helping the needy or promoting some other Christian endeavor. Trust funds can be set up in which only the interest is spent, resulting in a perpetual, self-giving unit.
We often consult with donors or family members of the departed
regarding Memorial Fund projects, although the final decision
regarding how monies are spent remains the privilege of the
Committee and the priest, in accordance with IRS regulations.
